Locations

We used a number of close-knit locations including both internal and external shots:

Internal-Amelias living room and kitchen, my living room, kitchen and bedroom.- Each of these rooms gives versimilartude as the audience can easily relate to the homely settings and are quite personal which helps the the audience to feel empathy with the character in the shot. As these are closed rooms they also connote entrapment as they're a bit clostraphobic, meaning if attcked theres no escape; killings in these settings that are personal to the audience are most effective, as the audience will automatically apply events to their own life situation, which increases tension this makes it scary as its feels like real life, as social realism aspects are contained i.e. day to day life.

External-Amelias garden, tunnel next to river wharfe.- The garden was used to symbolise Bens evil side as hes wearing dark baggy clothes and is emersed in the darkness.-the tunnel was used to emphacise the killer stalking the girl as hes dressed in dark baggy clothing juxtaposed to the artificial yellow tinted lighting (which is a common convention of horror) of the tunnel and streetlamps which bring him in and out of focus, as it was shot at night.- was also used to make the victim (Megan) look vulnerable as the small slender frame was engulfed in darkness, it also signifys lack of control as little else can be seen.
